Apartment buildings can have pigeon problems with pigeons either making nests in unwanted places or pigeons depositing a mess down the sides of walls during the day. Rooftop air conditioning units can attract pigeons to roost among them. Undercover carparking areas attract pigeons, providing them with roosting spots out of the elements.

How to remove pigeons from apartment building

To remove pigeons from an apartment building, it depends mostly on where they are creating their mess. For example, if their mess is in the carpark, usually the only reliable way to remove them is with an air rifle. Spikes typically won’t work, because installing spikes in a few locations will simply move the pigeons along a bit to the next spike-free spot. An air rifle is effective at night because the pigeons aren’t usually perturbed by it, and will continue to sit. The air rifle doesn’t make any noise, so pigeons aren’t alarmed. If pigeons are creating a nuisance on the roof, then an air rifle is usually the best option.

Netting may not work

If pigeons are roosting under air conditioning units, they can be excluded with netting. However, this will simply shift the pigeons to another spot on the roof- it won’t get rid of them. A series of visits to remove them with an air rifle may be necessary. This would work because its the same pigeons each night roosting on the roof.
